1509: Montezuma’s sister, Princess Papantzin, lapses into a coma. When she recovers she recalls a dream about a being with a black cross on his forehead conquering the Aztec’s and bringing them the true God.

April 22, 1519: Spaniard Hernando Cortes lands on the Gulf Shore of Mexico with his conquistadors
November 8, 1519: Cortes’ expedition uncovered evidence of human sacrifice. After failing to trap Cortes and is forces, Montezuma invites the Spaniard into the capital city. Cortes places Montezuma under house arrest and removes the statues of Aztec gods from the temple. Human sacrificing stops for tree months.
Spring 1520: Cortes leaves the capital city and leaves Pedro de Alvarado in charge. During the celebration of the sun god, Alvarado surrounds the temples and slaughters unarmed celebrates. The natives fought back attacking the Spaniards.

May 1521: Cortes returns to the capital city with Indian allies. A battle between the Spaniards and the Aztecs begins and lasts for 93 days.
August 13, 1521: The capital city is surrendered to Cortes. The Aztec temple is destroyed.

August 1524: Franciscan missionaries arrive to convert the natives to Christianity. The natives remain resistant and their mistreatment leads to violent outbursts.
December 9, 1531: The Blessed Virgin first appears to Juan Diego on Teyepak Hill. She asks Juan Diego to tell Bishop Don Fray Juan de Zumarrago to build a shrine to her on the hill. The bishop refuses the request and asks for proof.
December 12, 1531: The Blessed Virgin appears before Juan Diego for a fourth time. She appears before and heals his dying uncle. She also asks Juan Diego to gather the roses blooming on Teyepak Hill and present them to the Bishop as a sign. When Juan Diego presents the roses to the Bishop. He opens his tilma, cloak, to revel an exquisite imagine of the Virgin Mary.
December 25, 1531: The Chapel of Tepeyak’s construction is completed. The church is built on the spot that the Virgin appeared and is dedicated to her.
